Below are answers to common questions about Student Course Feedback access, timing, and appropriate use.
Access & Reports
Do I need to add custom questions?
No. The standard Student Course Feedback instrument is distributed automatically.
Instructors recieve an email invitiation to add approved custom questions where permitted.
When will I receive feedback?
Feedback is released only after final grades have been submitted and processed.
Where do I access my reports?
Most current results are available through the primary reporting interface at https://utah.campuslab.app.
Qualtrics dashboards and archived reports remain available for certain terms and reporting contexts. See the Access Results page for details.
Can I compare results across terms?
Yes. The primary reporting interface allows instructors to review trends across courses
and terms where data are available. Historical reports may also be accessed through
Qualtrics dashboards or archived systems as appropriate.
Can I view comments separately from quantitative results?
Yes. Reporting interfaces provide structured access to qualitative comments and quantitative
results. Formatting and grouping may vary depending on the reporting system and term.
Course & Enrollment Questions
What if I am team-teaching or share a course with a TA?
Surveys are configured based on instructor-of-record data maintained by your department
scheduler. If assignments appear incorrect, contact scf@utah.edu for assistance.
What if I do not see a course I expected?
Access is role-based and tied to enrollment and instructor-of-record data. If you
believe a course is missing, contact scf@utah.edu.
What happens in low-enrollment courses?
When enrollment or response counts are low, reporting practices may be adjusted to
protect student confidentiality and reduce the risk of re-identification. These practices
are reviewed through established governance processes.
For more information, visit the Policies & Governance section.
Response Rates
When can I see response rates?
Response rates are visible during the survey window and update as students submit
feedback. See the Check Response Rates page for details.
Why do response rates matter?
Higher response rates provide broader representation of student perspectives. Instructors
are encouraged to remind students to participate during the open survey window.
For strategies, visit Improve Response Rates.
Mid-Semester Feedback
How can I collect mid-semester feedback?
The Center for Teaching Excellence recommends using an anonymous quiz in Canvas for
mid-semester feedback.
For step-by-step instructions, visit Online Mid-semester Student Feedback.
