Access Your Surveys

Student Course Feedback surveys are available during the last weeks of each class session.

Login to Access Surveys in Canvas

You can also access surveys through Account → Course Feedback in the Canvas global navigation.

If you cannot access a survey, contact scf@utah.edu.

Survey dates vary by session but typically open during the final two weeks of class.

Why Your Feedback Matters

Your feedback helps:

  • Instructors improve their teaching
  • Departments strengthen courses and programs
  • Future students make informed academic decisions

Your perspective is one part of a broader evaluation process and contributes to ongoing academic improvement.


Confidentiality

Your responses are confidential.

  • Instructors do not see feedback until after final grades are submitted.
  • Names and identifying information are not attached to survey responses.
  • Reporting practices are designed to protect student identity, especially in small classes.

Writing Constructive Feedback

Thoughtful, specific feedback is the most helpful.

Do:

  • Comment on aspects of the course that supported your learning.
  • Offer specific suggestions for improvement.
  • Provide examples when possible.

Do Not:

  • Make comments unrelated to learning (e.g., physical appearance).
  • Use emotional or generalized statements without explanation.

Constructive feedback supports meaningful improvement.

When are surveys open?

Do I have to complete every survey?
Participation is voluntary, but you are encouraged to complete surveys for all courses.

Can instructors see my responses before grades are posted?
No. Feedback is released only after final grades are submitted.

What if I drop a class?
Only students enrolled at the end of the term receive surveys.

Can I edit a response after submitting it?
No. Once submitted, responses cannot be changed.
