Standard Student Course Feedback Instrument

The University of Utah uses a standardized Student Course Feedback instrument for all credit-bearing courses. The instrument is reviewed and maintained through faculty governance by the Senate Advisory Committee on Student Course Feedback (SACSCF) and approved by the Academic Senate. Additional information about policy oversight and governance processes is available on the Policies & Governance page.

Instrument History

The University of Utah has used several versions of standardized student course feedback instruments over time as the university has refined its approach to collecting and interpreting student feedback.

Prior to Spring 2003
Student course feedback instruments were developed and administered independently by departments or colleges, resulting in decentralized survey practices across the university.

Spring 2003 – Fall 2020
The university adopted its first standardized student course feedback instrument for use across credit-bearing courses.

Spring 2021 – Fall 2023
The university implemented a new standardized instrument developed by the Senate Advisory Committee on Student Course Feedback (SACSCF) and approved by the Academic Senate.

Spring 2024 – Present
The current standardized instrument incorporates revisions reviewed by the Senate Advisory Committee on Student Course Feedback (SACSCF) and approved by the Academic Senate.
